I saw these at the gift show and wrote them up for the New York Times today. These Fornasetti-esque structures are really stacks of plates and bowls – a great way to hide things in plain site, especially in small apartments like the one inhabited by yours truly. Its no secret to design aficionados that West Elm finds a lot of “inspiration” in “creating” many of their pieces. Of course we’d rather have the real deal, but times like this call for economic restraint. So while what I’d prefer to have the Giogali Chandelier I see in multiples hanging over the bar at Soho House:
I would consider settling for the West Elm take on his glass links:
It’s not the same but I still think it’s a pretty great design for the $.
