I’d been thinking it might have a smart thing to have, so I got this incredibly ultra-light one from Outdoor Research. The women’s colors are shown above, the men’s comes in bright yellow, grey (with orange zippers) and black. The only drawback to the jacket is the placement of the single outer pocket (on the boob? really?) and the lack of pit zip. I like a pit zip, I also really liked that ’70s reminiscent shade of blue (but of course I got the black). Other specs are below, price is $140.

Nexcare band aids (also in neon colors)
If you have to ask, you clearly haven’t been trying out new summer shoes in the summery weather. Might as well go crazy and colorful while in pain. These bandaids (by Nexcare) are the only ones I’ve used that stay on no matter what, and they come in neon colors. Buy them here.
For lovers of fashion illustration, a show of Izak Zenou’s work is up until April 30th at Traffic Art Space.

Check it out, then pop over to Bemelmans for one of my favorite martinis in town.

The Correspondent, $475 - $510
Don’t get me wrong, I’ve always loved and longed for Globe Trotter luggage. But I also felt the prices were ridiculous for a product that is essentially vulcanized cardboard with leather accents. Gorgeous? Absolutely. Affordable? No. So finally someone knocked them off. Not sure I’d buy it but thought it was worth putting out there for discussion. More details at Streamline Luggage.

Pink Editor case, $280 - $320

The Stylist, $280 - $320

The Diplomats, $540-$570

This is not my cleavage.
Those are, however, the “100 good wishes” necklaces by Dogeared and they are my latest fashion obsession. You might have noticed that spring/summer will be a big season for necklaces – whether the huge tiered numbers or the layers of smaller. Either way, its about a statement around your neck. I do not normally go for that look but when I found these last year I changed my mind – they have either silver or gold dipped beads strung on linen and have a leather tie – it’s a very casual chic look. Great for beach, great for city, and the necklaces are so long you can wrap them around your wrists multiple times for a cool layered bracelet look as well. I’m pasting a detail shot below. The only thing – they’re not cheap. But I think you’ll wear them enough to make it worth it. Check out the whole collection here.

This is the shoe that will become the go-to shoe when you want height + comfort + style which, for me, is every day. It comes in 10 colors and at just $29 is a no-brainer purchase for summer. I haven’t seen them “live” but I just ordered a pair.

I love an Oxford and while I sported a great menswear style (in an amazing taupe color, courtesy of Pedro Garcia) in the fall, spring calls for something lighter. After a lot of searching, I found the perfect pair at Belle Sigerson Morrison. At $220 not so bad…

Becoming an editor who test drives beauty products for Organic Spa has been one of the big surprises of my life. I traditionally wasn’t into product, didn’t buy into the hype, etc. But I am a sucker for great packaging and N. 4 haircare has that, hands down. My editor, Mary Bemis, gave me their shampoo and conditioner to try out, knowing I would love how the bottle (which sits either vertically or horizontally) looks, the choice of font, etc. I do. I even like the product – a lot. The only thing I don’t like is the price – about $45 for the shampoo alone. While I’m willing to spend more for organic, paraben free, sulfate free stuff, that’s still too rich for my blood. If you’ve got deeper pockets or a trust fund, go for it. You won’t be disappointed.
