Despite growing up in the midwest and loving (yes loving) winter weather, I can honestly say that I am now done for this season. I’m over the weather, and I’m over my winter clothes. It is time for a change. But it’s still only 35 degrees outside which means coats must remain in the repertoire. I’ve been jonesing for a new one but didn’t want to spend major $. A couple weeks ago my friend Elana showed up at lunch wearing this BB Dakota military number:

It’s hard to tell from the photo, because the detailing is all black on black, but trust me when I tell you it looks very expensive and very chic. Needless to say, I became obsessed, came home from lunch and searched like a maniac until I found it online at a site called 6pm.com that apparently is the Zappos outlet. For $64!!! Not kidding. You need this coat.

So you go in, you buy one thing (hey, their underwear is always on sale) and you get the coupon and you go back the next week and buy something like this – an AWESOME crepe blazer that looks like absolutely nothing in this photo – and not even that great on the hanger – but will end up being your favorite light cover up for spring. If spring ever comes.

While aficionados do not recommend drinking champagne from coupes, I must confess it is my favorite glass for bubbly or even a martini. I love a coupe. I also love the Coburg bar at the Connaught Hotel in London. And, coincidentally, the hotel has just introduced a set of six coupes packaged in a chic silver box.
